Safety & Injury Prevention
Education is crucial to preventing injuries and saving lives.
The Safe Kids Coalition was re-established in Palm Beach County in 2006 through an annual grant commitment provided by the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation. The Safe Kids progams are aimed at keeping children injury free and offer safety education in an effort to decrease accidental injuries in children. Education provided throughout the community focuses on drowning prevention, home safety, pedestrian safety, bicycle safety, and child passenger safety.
In 2010, Safe Kids, with the support of the Foundation, launched the "Look Before You Lock" campaign to educate parents and caregivers on the dangers of leaving a child in a vehicle where they are likely to suffer heat-related injuries or death. Additionally, the Foundation funded The Safe Kids Mobile Training Vehicle, which serves as a multilingual resource center to offer hands-on demonstrations for caregivers on the proper installation of a child sfaety seat.
Every child has the right to grow up
safe, healthy, and free from injury.
